What's in it for you?

Excerpt from the AFFPA Insider, written by Kathryn Dragowska

Beyond the newsletters, your membership supports, and gives you access to, a whole ecosystem of work that often happens quietly, but has very real impact.

There’s advocacy, which is our not-so-silent giant. Much of it happens behind the scenes: conversations with government, input into consultations, pushing back where needed, and making sure agritourism and direct-market farms are understood, represented, and not forgotten when policies are drafted. You may not see a headline every time this happens, but it’s steady, ongoing, and essential.

There’s also representation and visibility. We actively promote member farms, elevate stories, connect dots between organizations, and make sure producers have a seat at the table in conversations that shape the future of local food and agritourism in Alberta.

Members benefit from programs, partnerships, and opportunities that are only available within the AFFPA network: group purchasing initiatives, plant orders, training sessions, conference access, awards, and pilot projects designed with real farm realities in mind, not theory, not guesswork.

And just as importantly, there’s community. A growing, province-wide network of producers who understand each other’s challenges, share knowledge, support one another, and collectively strengthen the sector.

Your membership isn’t just a transaction. It’s what allows this work to continue, visibly and invisibly, on behalf of Alberta’s farm-direct and agritourism community.

We’re genuinely glad you’re here, and we hope you’ll continue with us into the year ahead.
