Farm of the Year Award

The Farm of the Year Award celebrates a farm demonstrating exceptional standards in operations, customer experience, innovation, community contribution, and leadership. This award is presented to a farm business, that leads with innovation, igniting a path of transformation within Alberta’s farm direct marketing landscape. This accolade celebrates the ingenious creators who have boldly introduced fresh ideas that elevate and enrich the industry to bring new ideas that improve or enhance the agritourism experience in Alberta.

Farms of all sizes and stages are encouraged to apply. 

The Farm of the Year Award will be presented to an Alberta farm that:
– Delivers a high-quality, safe, and welcoming visitor experience
– Demonstrates authentic agricultural production and transparent education
– Innovates through thoughtful business development and diversification
– Practices responsible land stewardship and sustainability
– Contributes positively to its community and the broader agritourism sector

How nominations are evaluated

Nominations are reviewed by a selection committee using a structured scoring process. Judges evaluate each nomination across five areas that reflect excellence in agritourism, farming practices, business development, sustainability, and community leadership.

Each category is considered carefully, with the goal of recognizing farms that balance strong operations with meaningful visitor experiences and long-term impact.

Submission Notes

– Self-nominations and peer nominations are welcome
– Farms do not need to be members of AFFPA to be nominated or to receive an award
– Farms of all sizes and stages are encouraged to apply
– Supporting materials (photos, links, media) are optional but welcomed
– All nominations are reviewed by a selection committee using a structured scoring process aligned with the published criteria
– Finalists will be contacted directly ahead of the AGM, and award recipients will be announced at the 2026 Annual General Meeting and Conference
