The Luminary of the Year Award recognizes an extraordinary individual whose remarkable contributions have illuminated the Alberta Farm Fresh Agritourism industry with an unmatched dedication, unwavering passion, and relentless commitment. This prestigious accolade is given to someone who embodies the very essence of this industry, radiating the spirit and brilliance that make this sector not just a profession but a vocation. This award is to recognize an individual regardless of length of time in the industry, at all levels of seniority.
The recipient will be an individual who: – Demonstrates outstanding leadership, mentorship, or advocacy within agritourism or direct-market agriculture – Shares knowledge, experience, or support that helps others grow and succeed – Acts as a positive role model through integrity, generosity, and collaboration – Contributes to the long-term strength, visibility, and credibility of the agritourism sector in Alberta – Inspires others through their actions, values, and commitment to the land, community, and industry
How nominations are evaluated
Nominations are reviewed by a selection committee using a structured scoring process. Judges evaluate each nomination across five areas that reflect excellence in agritourism, farming practices, business development, sustainability, and community leadership.
Each category is considered carefully, with the goal of recognizing farms that balance strong operations with meaningful visitor experiences and long-term impact.

– Self-nominations and peer nominations are welcome – Membership in AFFPA is not required – Supporting materials (photos, links, media) are optional but welcomed – All nominations are reviewed by a selection committee using a structured scoring process aligned with the published criteria – Finalists will be contacted directly ahead of the AGM, and award recipients will be announced at the 2026 Annual General Meeting and Conference
