We had a very short fall and a load of snow throughout most of Alberta. This weather, although hard on our farmers, isn't stopping many of our farmers from going into their fields to get the last of the field crops. Carrots, Brussel sprouts, leek, and kale are still being harvested and you can find them at your local farmers market, in their farm stores or calling them directly.
It is also a great time to get pumpkins and squash. With Thanksgiving in a few days, its time to bake a delicious pumpkin pie and get that all important turkey or ham.
My favourite pumpkin pie recipe comes from Diane Rattray www.thespruceeats.com/autumn-pumpkin-pie-3059962
With this recipe I use a bit more of each spice.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at AFFPA
